IBM customer replaceable ribbons deliver unique benefits for users of the 6400-i printers. The 6400-i premium ribbon tells you when it needs to be changed with the Intelligent Ribbon Minder. This new feature available only on the 6400-i printer allows the printer to detect when a new 6400-i premium ribbon has been added and when it needs to be changed. Tied in with IBM's exclusive PMU (Printer Management Utility), any user, anywhere, can be alerted to the need to change a ribbon. The 6400-i premium ribbon features the patented "Clean-Hands" ribbon leader. This ribbon is optimized for report printing, text printing, bar-code label printing, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) printing.
